So we started our planning trip by meeting our photographer, Ashley Razo from Ashley Jane Photography for breakfast Sunday morning. It was planned mostly to get to know each other (we didn't have a desire for engagement pictures, which is how a lot of other couples get to know their photographer), but we also went through a general timeline of the day, as well as going through photos that we know we'd want. I'm writing as I wait for my hair/make-up artist to arrive for my trial...this week has gone by so fast! I still have 2 more days, but it seems to have flown by.
There are so many things to report back about from our planning session -- I was thinking it was going to be one post, but I think it needs to be divvied up into at least a couple different ones. It was so much fun, but it was also a little overwhelming, making that many decisions in a 5 hour period! All of it can be changed up until about 30 days before the wedding, but it still felt very "speak now or forever hold your peace." (Ba-doom CHING! I actually wrote that before I realized the double entendre.) I am writing this on the plane to Florida! Tomorrow we meet with our photographer, Ashley Razo, and later in the week we will have our infamous “Planning Session” where all the big decisions are made! We’re so excited :) So while I have time to kill on the plane, I figured I would report back about something we did a while ago, which is start a registry. Honestly, our guests are spending so much money just attending our wedding that our expectation is that many will limit or forgo gifts – which is of course fine, but we are still having a shower, and the expectation is that we would register for items we would like. (I'm really bad at coming up with clever titles, you guys. You'll just have to bear with my boring ones!) Mr. Llama and I will be meeting our photographer for the first time in less than a week! We are so excited to finally touch base with her face-to-face. When we started looking for a photographer, there was one big thing that we'd hope would work in our favor, budget-wise and availability-wise. Image via BMichellePippen.com
Another component of our upcoming Planning Session is selecting the linens and other decor items. This is an area in which we are hoping to keep costs down - the venue already has a lot of personality, and shouldn't require a ton of upgrades. However, this is easier said than done. When you're already spending so much fracking money on the rest of the day, you want to make sure the visual of your wedding day corresponds to all the work/money you put in! Thing #1: Linens. At our upcoming planning session, we will be tasting our potential dinner selections, as well as... Image via WeddingBells.ca / Cake by Anna Elizabeth Cakes Caaaaake!!!
So as I mentioned previously, we are going to our planning session in two weeks! One of the primary components of the planning is our tasting menu. I imagine it will go just like this:
Two weeks from today, Mr. Llama and I will fly down to Orlando for our wedding planning trip! Since we live in Chicago, you can imagine how excited we are, for multiple reasons. Image via AiringNews.com This season was a toughie, and we can't wait to see some of that Florida sunshine! Plus, both of our parents are able to be there with us, so we're looking forward to seeing them as well.
There are a few people who won't be at our wedding, much as we'd like them there. About ten years ago, my grandparents, Nonni & Poppi, passed away. They were a huge part of my life, the most loving, funny, and warm grandparents that ever were. (I know what you're probably thinking - your grandparents are/were better. Nope. Not possible.)
