Something I was working on furiously in the months leading up to our wedding was a "Happy" video for Mr. Llama. Because Mr. L reads the blog, I obviously couldn't write about, but it was probably one of the biggest projects I undertook for the wedding! And while one guest almost accidentally spilled the beans on the whole thing, I'm pretty sure he was totally blindsided:
Remember when Mr. Llama surprised me and our guests with a Disney "Safety Video?" Well, as it turns out...I had my own video surprise for him (I know, we're just two peas in a pod.)

When I was little, my dad always referred to one day taking me to the "Daddy-Daughter Dance." Maybe that's something that still exists in some places, but it was mostly used as an excuse to dance with me!
I'm taking a brief pause from my recapping to show you how I DIYed my shoes! I've always been a lover of shoes, but as you already know about me, I'm also a lover of a bargain. I didn't really want to spend a ton of dough on shoes that would barely be seen, other than a handful of photographs.
It was Valentine's Day yesterday, and Mr. Llama and I talked about how our wedding day feels like years ago. Despite the feeling of longevity, there are so many special moments, minutes, and hours that are crystal clear in our memories. I sure hope it stays that way!
Whenever people ask me what my favorite part of our wedding day was (other than the actual act of marrying Mr. L), I say our first dance. Those few minutes seem to perfectly encapsulate our day. There wasn't much discussion about what song we would dance to. The obvious answer was Huey Lewis & The News' anthem, Power of Love, otherwise known as the Back to the Future song. It's one of our all-time favorite movies. My last post showed you some of the details of our reception.
As I had mentioned before, by this time, it was POURING. Our reception & ceremony locations required very little walking outside, but the rain was so crazy that even if you were running 20 feet, you'd be getting pretty wet. Somehow (with the help of a bunch of Disney umbrellas that were lent to us) our guests made it over in one piece, and they didn't look too drenched. I certainly didn't hear any complaints, anyway. Our planner was able to take Mr. L's grandparents in her suburban, and actually drove onto the sidewalk - so fortunately, they didn't have to walk outside at all! When we walked in our venue, I first had the disappointment of seeing the all-white linens, but soon, Mr. L and I were encouraged by the staff to take a few moments for ourselves, have a seat downstairs and eat some of our appetizers, and generally - take a breath. It was probably only about 10 minutes, but I'm glad we took their advice and relaxed for a bit. Then, strangely, our Jazz Trio that we thought would play through the cocktail hour, packed up their instruments and left. Hmmm. I'm going to use this post to show you some of the details from our reception! I was working on a few different projects in the month leading up to the wedding... I didn't go into great detail on my DIY processes other than this entry, but I at least figured I could show you how it all turned out! My ornaments/favors/placecards! I was very happy with how these turned out. And, as an added bonus, I got plenty of photos around Christmastime from friends hanging their little Mickeys! I was so happy to see that at least some of them made it home safely, and stuck around for at least 6 months to make it onto a tree.
Sorry to have left you hanging for a while again! Holidays...
So where I last left off, our guests were ushered inside to our indoor, backup location due to rain. Once all our guests, jazz trio, and bridal party was settled, it was time to start the ceremony - about 25 minutes later than scheduled, but hey - that's life! So, as I mentioned before, our ceremony got rained out. But - not before we got to take all of our photos and the photographer got to snap a few of the outdoor venue before everything got moved inside!
All photos by Ashley Jane Photography Hive - I'm so sorry I've been MIA. I don't have any grand excuse - the school year just really started to pick up, and I started supervising an extra-curricular, which seemed to take up all my spare time! My apologies. I'll try to be back more consistently. I've loved reading all the other bees' blogs, though! Particularly our newbees :) So...anyway... Next on our to-do list: Bridal Party photos. All photos courtesy of Ashley Jane Photography We had a pretty sizable bridal party: 6 groomsmen, 6 bridesmaids, and 5 ladies in my "house party." That meant a lot of combinations!
My house party consisted of 5 of my best girlfriends from college: |
