So while I have time to kill on the plane, I figured I would report back about something we did a while ago, which is start a registry. Honestly, our guests are spending so much money just attending our wedding that our expectation is that many will limit or forgo gifts – which is of course fine, but we are still having a shower, and the expectation is that we would register for items we would like.
What we definitely knew we needed were some nice dishes, flatware, and glassware. Since most of our stuff in storage is leftover from college life, we definitely wanted an upgrade in that arena. Like many couples, Crate & Barrel was on our radar for being reasonably affordable, good quality, and for having locations all across the country. We decided on just a C&B registry for those people that like to physically go into a store and buy something, and the rest of our wants/needs will be supplied through Amazon’s Universal Registry. It just seemed easiest – that way, we can have a huge variety of types of items, and at the likely best price.
Months ago, Facebook started posting bride-related advertisements on my feed, and that’s when I fell in love with these babies:
At the time, I showed them to Mr. Llama, and his response was a non-committal, “Yeah, those are nice.” Fast forward a few months, and Mr. Llama’s eye went straight toward them at Crate & Barrel! He insists he has no recollection of me showing them to him, and that he genuinely liked those the best…though I think it must have been somewhere in his subconscious. Or maybe that’s JUST how meant for each other we are. :)
In addition to the plates & bowls, we got some wine glasses, regular glasses, flatware, and some matching serving platters. We looked at linens, but figured we didn’t want to get too much before we knew how big of a table/kitchen we would have. So we stopped there.
As for our Amazon registry, we got the usual stuff – Tupperware, Pyrex, pots & pans, small appliances…nothing all that exciting. I feel like there’s gotta be something big that I’m missing though…I’m thinking about a Roomba. Anyone have experience with those? I hate vacuuming!
Looking back at your registry experience – what’s the one thing you wish you had registered for? Or not registered for?
