One of our favors were these sunglasses. We bought them from ShadesofFun.com, and we were pretty pleased with them, for the price we paid ($80 total for 96 pairs including shipping.) I didn't get them imprinted with the date or anything - frankly, I kind of find that that makes them unwearable, when they so obviously flaunt your wedding date! But, I did want our guests to remember where they got them if they happened to hang on to them, so I took a white permanent marker and subtly wrote our initials with a little Mickey design on the INNER part of the frame - therefore not visible at all when you're wearing them. Unfortunately, I don't seem to have a picture of that, but I'm sure you get the gist!
The candy is a piece of taffy, which was incorporated into our ceremony. We wanted to commemorate those family members who are no longer with us, but we wanted to do it in a light-hearted way that made us smile, rather than cry. So, we decided to have our guests eat a piece of taffy (which takes a minute or so to chew!) and while they chewed it, we asked them to think of their favorite memory involving one of the family members who've passed away. In our program, we called it a "Sweet Remembrance." We chose taffy to go with the Boardwalk theme :)
Finally, our programs, the ever-popular fans! Mr. Llama worked very hard on these, incorporating design elements from our invitations, as well as some ideas from all over the inter-webs. We had 100 of them printed on cardstock for about $90. The assembly of the programs was done by some of my fantastic bridesmaids and house party gals - let me tell you, whenever possible, USE AN ASSEMBLY LINE! It went so much faster that way. I am forever thankful that I didn't do that particular project on my own!
It was so strange to get the photos back and see these, because we were never there! It was like seeing someone else's wedding photos. Very odd.
From what I hear, our planner could have had some better communication here. Apparently, she stood in front of everyone, and in a somewhat low level voice, quickly said, "Excuse me, the wedding will be taking place inside," and then left everyone to find their way to the backup space. I'm not sure - it may have gone more smoothly than it appeared, but I do know that most of our items on the chairs were moved by my friends' husbands, and not by any Disney personnel. Oh well. Everyone eventually found their way, and no one looked particularly wet, so I suppose that's all that matters in the end!
Coming up next...THE CEREMONY! Finally! :) I loved our ceremony, and I can't wait to share it with you guys.
