MR LLAMA - DRESS PICS AHEAD!
I went home, logged on to PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com, and started looking for the dresses I tried on that day, just out of curiosity.
Let's see...type in "Jayma" ...okay, a couple Jaymas are for sale...ooh, this one's about half price...click... <reading description>...ooh, and it's brand new... it's in Chicago?? ... wait...she's saying she tried on other Augusta Jones dresses at Macy's, and loved the sparkle other dresses had, so she ORDERED IT WITH SEQUINS??
I couldn't believe it. What are the chances?? This had 'meant-to-be' all over it. The only thing was, it was a size 4 - and I knew I was usually a bridal size 6. But... maybe it would work anyway!
I immediately contacted the seller, and we set up a date for me to come try it on. She was a lawyer who simply called off her wedding, and seemed perfectly legit and nice. I went with Llama Mom & Dad to her apartment on a beautiful Sunday in June to try it on:
The size 4 was a little small, though. In the first picture, I think you can see how it's pulling a little bit across my hips. Not unwearable, but a little snugger than ideal - enough that it would make me try and lose a little weight, which is not easy around the hips, and not something that I was originally planning on doing. Also, it occurred to me how uncomfortable that tightness could be in the Florida summer heat. But none of these stopped me from loving it!
The seller had indicated that she had not had any 'bites' on the dress before me - so I figured--no rush. I have time. I told her to let me know if she got any offers, and in the meantime, I'd continue shopping. When I left her apartment, 'Jayma' was the dress to beat!
Did you ever go to a stranger's house to try on a dress?
