We are SO pleased with our photos - all pictured here are courtesy of Ashley Jane Photography. Highly recommend her! Also, I'm a sucker for black & white version of photos, so you'll notice that a lot of the ones I use are B&W :)
I woke up the morning of our wedding from a surprisingly good sleep - considering I don't sleep as well without Mr. Llama, I didn't expect to get as much sleep as I did, but I managed a healthy 7-ish hours!
The hair/makeup team was coming at 10:00, and the dress steamer was coming to my parents' room (where the ladies would be getting ready) at 9:00. My dress was already there, so I didn't actually have to do anything, or even be there for the steaming - just show up for hair/makeup! So I enjoyed some leisurely quiet time in my room - had some coffee, took a shower, reviewed my vows - before showing up to my parents' room around 9:45. I also opened a lovely gift from Mr. Llama - he bought me a pretty hanger for my dress to get photographed on! It was one of those things I never got around to ordering, and now I'm so glad, because the one he gave me is perfect! He also wrote my a very sweet note, which made me even more excited to see him later.
Anyway, I had done a second hair/makeup trial two days before the wedding, so I was feeling very calm and confident about how it was going to turn out. While I had been feeling guilty about spending that much money on a second trial, it was well worth it. There was enough to worry about on the day, and having your hair/makeup done CAN be so fun and enjoyable when you're confident. So that extra expense was worth every penny. |
(I'm just going to throw some pictures into the middle of my story. Is that okay?)
However, upon putting on my dress, it just wasn't staying up properly. And there was trouble with the zipper. I had two different kinds of lingerie tape, and neither one was sufficiently strong enough to do what my seamstress's tape had done. I also think I may have unintentionally lost another couple pounds, which wasn't helping matters. So I broke. I was feeling stressed, and I was mad at myself for feeling stressed! This was the one time I had unhappy tears on my wedding day, but you can't tell a thing from the photos!
Thankfully, two of the ladies in my House Party are in the costume/costume crafts business, and are good at solving such problems. House Party member M came to the rescue by helpfully suggesting we simply trim down the size of the sticky bra. I don't know why I never thought of that before. I guess bride-brain?
Up next...the gentlemen "get ready"...or... something like that!
